The Convent of the Santa Lucia Congregation was built in the 16th Century and during its history has housed the Carlos Gracida Institute at the beginning of the 20th Century, around 1945 it was converted in the Hotel Pombo and it run for more than 50 years and, finally, after more than 4 years of the greatest effort to rebuild it, it got back its original form and its unique ambient in each of its spaces, housing now the Hotel CasAntica.
The Hotel has 2 Buildings. The first one was the Convent itself and the second one was built around 1950, during the time the Convent Housed the Hotel Pombo.
The building of the Convent has two patios: in the inner patio, which is delimited in the south face for a stone wall, is the heated pool with a waterfall that comes out from a very old gargoyle. The main Patio's floor is made from stone and built like an open fan, with a fountain in its northeast side and it has the Arco de San Miguel cafeteria, in which is very pleasant to drink a wine cup, a coffee or taste the delicious food that the restaurant has to offer.
The Convent's chapel is now the Restaurant of the Hotel with Mexican and Mediterranean specialties and the main attraction is the original arch, that it was rescued in its original form, and the antique San Miguel Archangel painting that occupies the center of the Arch.
The two buildings of the Hotel are connected with a terrace in the 2nd floor and a small tunnel in the first. The most inner building has a very small patio with a beautiful half fountain in the north face and it is made of 3 floors with 24 standard rooms in total, all of them rebuilted in such a way as to have a rustic and colonial ambiance to make all the guests feel that it is a continuation of the Convent.
The terrace that connects the two buildings is the perfect place to enjoy the sun, while we watch the beautiful original and antique stone wall that delimits the pool.
In the third floor of the inner building you have the must incredible and astonish view of the Church’s dome of Oaxaca, being at night when it is greater the beauty of this image.
